Artica by Carvico of Italy. A two-way stretch brushed fabric created in Italy using an exclusive mix of hollow polyester yarn combined with polyammide and Lycra® creating high thermal insulation and pilling resistance.
 

THERMAL INSULATION

This hollow yarn makes the most of the insulating properties of air. Nature knows this concept very well: polar bears are among the few animals able to thrive in extreme climate conditions with sudden temperature changes. Their secret is having a coat with hollow fur that provides unbeatable thermal insulation. Based on this phenomenon we have created ARTICA, a fabric made of hundreds of hollow microfilaments working as thermal insulating chambers between the skin and the outside that always keep the body at an optimal temperature.
 

BREATHABILITY

Polyamide on the outside of the fabric and polyester on the inside against the skin allows sweat to evaporate even during sports activities. Polyester yarn has a low hygroscopicity, that means it absorbs little water, whereas the polyamide yarn has a hygroscopicity that’s three times higher. Therefore the difference of hygroscopicity between the two fibres enhances moisture transport to the outside of the fabric. Your body stays dry and comfortable thanks to ARTICA’s high breathability

LIGHTNESS
ARTICA gives maximum comfort and freedom of movement due to its multidirectional stretch. Providing 50+ ultraviolet protection factor. The hollow yarn fabric weighs 25-30% less than standard fabric does. Garments made with ARTICA are not bulky, instead they are light, high performing, easy to care for and very durable.
